The
customer displayed the new tool at an intra-company ergonomics team
meeting. A sister company, then, liked the unit, but wanted the
tool to be operated an orientation 90 degrees from the original.
So, the pistol-grip version was designed and built.
Each plant now has several in operation with no problems
having been reported.
The pneumatic hand tools shown below were
designed and built by Parrish Associates in order to solve a tooling
problem at our customer's manufacturing plant.
The customer uses a pneumatic nibbler
to balance a small cooling fan during its assembly. Existing nibbles
were too cumbersome and did not offer a single "bite" per trigger-pull.
This tool, then, was designed to solve those problems yet be ergonomically
sized. The result was the model shown below with the thumb-lever-operator.
