WE ENGINEER SOLUTIONS:

This project was to replace the remote radio-control equipment on this diesel engine-powered hydraulic power pack. This 2000 lb power pack is used to load and unload shipping containers at a seaport terminal. The power pack is moved from a 20 ft rack to a 40 ft lifting rack, as needed for the two container sizes. The lifting-rack, and the containers, are lifted by large cranes. The radio control unit provides the crane operator with convenience, safety and reliability.

This unit has been operating flawlessly since going into service in January of 1998.

In this first view, you can see the stainless steel electrical enclosure used for the electronics. Manual operation of the power-pack is provide on the front of this enclosure.

This last view shows the maze of wires and the electronic equipment located in the electrical cabinet. A PLC was used for safety purposes to prevent any unwanted actions resulting from power or radio system failures.
