| To
the left is a picture of an automated test fixture for a company
that produces vapor recovery-type gasoline dispensing nozzles. This
tester is used to test each nozzle as it is being assembled. The
nozzle is tested using both pressure and vacuum. The nozzle is tested
at pressures ranging from 5 psi to 30 psi. The vacuum tests are
performed at 10" w.c. and 136" w.c. vacuum.
The
allowable leak rates for the nozzle is near zero. In order to achieve
such high performance, an electronic mass flowmeter is used to detect
the molecular movement of the air in the test lines.
The nozzle is also subjected to a flow test where the resistance
to flow or back-pressure is measured. A maximum back-pressure of
5" w.c. vacuum is permitted. |
